Quality Control — 100% Testing

Electrical, dimensional, and surface inspection on every spool. Test data archived and retrievable by furnace batch number. SGS and Bureau Veritas third-party inspection available on request.

Electrical, dimensional, and surface inspection on every spool.

Electrical Testing

  • Resistance uniformity — 4-wire Kelvin method, every spool
  • EMF calibration — against NIST-traceable reference junction, per batch
  • Insulation resistance — for extension and compensating cable

Mechanical Testing

  • Tensile strength and elongation — per ASTM E8
  • Surface quality — visual inspection at 40× magnification
  • Diameter tolerance — in-line laser micrometer, ±0.001 mm
  • Eddy current — 100% surface defect detection

Batch release sequence

A batch leaves the plant only after all four steps are complete:

  1. Melt chemistry verified against the furnace record — OES analysis plus LECO carbon/sulphur and oxygen/nitrogen/hydrogen results.
  2. Spool tested — resistance uniformity by 4-wire Kelvin, dimensional measurement by in-line laser micrometer, and 100% eddy-current surface inspection.
  3. EMF calibrated against an NIST-traceable reference junction for the batch.
  4. MTC issued and the full test record archived against the furnace number.

Traceability System

  • Unique furnace number per batch
  • Full chemical composition report (OES)
  • Test data archive, retrievable by furnace batch number
  • SGS / BV third-party inspection available
  • Dual certification (IEC + ASTM) on request

Frequently Asked Questions

What tests are run on every spool?

Resistance uniformity by the 4-wire Kelvin method, dimensional checks with an in-line laser micrometer, 100% eddy-current surface inspection, and EMF calibration against a NIST-traceable reference junction per batch.

Is test data retained and retrievable after the order?

Yes, retrievable by furnace batch number. AMS 2750 audits require MTCs going back to the original installation, which is why the archive exists.

Can I get third-party inspection?

Yes. SGS or Bureau Veritas inspection is arranged at our facility on request, and test reports, calibration certificates and compliance statements are included with every order.

What mechanical testing is performed?

Tensile strength and elongation to ASTM E8, plus visual surface inspection at 40× magnification for surface defects that electrical testing cannot see.

Bottom line: Quality control here means every spool, not a sample: resistance uniformity, dimensional measurement and 100% eddy-current surface inspection, with EMF calibration against a NIST-traceable reference per batch. All of it is archived against the furnace number, which is what an AMS 2750 or third-party audit actually asks to see.

Need third-party inspection?

We arrange SGS or Bureau Veritas inspection at our facility. Test reports, calibration certificates and compliance statements included with every order.
